Use 100% cotton material for your quilt.
Trim excess threads from front and back of quilt before sending for quilting.
Label "Top" edge of quilt and backing.
Leave 4-6 inches of extra batting on all sides if you are supplying the batting.
Remove selvedges before joining backing
Press all seams, backing and quilt top.
Do not pin or baste quilt together
Straighten edges if piecing back, make sure all are the same length.
When creating your borders, measure vertically & horizontally through the center of your quilt. This measurement will eliminate the wavy borders.
Clip any loose threads from your quilt.
Backing and batting should be 4" larger on all sides.
When seaming your backing, use 3/8" to 1/2" seam allowances and press the seams open or to one side.
When deciding on your backing fabric, think about the color thread that will be used for the quilting. It is best to use the same color in the top and the bobbin. |
